Welcome to Children’s Ministries at Christ the Rock Community Church. Thanks for taking the time to check us out!
On Sunday mornings Children’s Ministry offers a regular Sunday School format with individual classes for the first service. We are currently using Faithweaver from Group Publishing as our curriculum. For the second service we offer a Kids Church format, our curriculum for second service is The Gospel Project from Lifeway. We use an electronic child check in system, stop by the information desk for details & to get registered.
The goal of Children's Ministries at Christ the Rock is to supplement the primary source of Godly character development: THE HOME. Our goal, beyond providing sound Biblical teaching for kids, is to provide information, training, and materials for parents to use to help guide their children to a deeper understanding of God and a lifelong commitment to a relationship with Him.
"And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the door posts of your house and on your gates." Deuteronomy 6:6-9
Our hope is that you will find that we are committed to reaching kids for Christ and providing opportunities for them to grow into lifelong followers of our Lord and Savior. Our goal for our kids here at the Rock is that they LEARN God’s Word, LOVE Him with all their heart, and LIVE out a growing relationship with Him. We work on molding and shaping lives by examining every activity to make sure it fits in with the following 5 key areas that we believe are essential to our walk with Christ and our relationships with others: fellowship, evangelism, service, worship, and discipleship. Our goal is to be intentional in developing the mind, heart, and practice of every child that enters our doors. We believe that our foundation is built on a solid understanding of God’s Word. While at times our methods may be entertaining, our goal each week is to communicate the truths of God’s Word in a way that is understandable and practical. It’s knowledge with hands and feet that invokes real heart change. We use a scripture-based approach that focuses on learning the Word, growing in faith, and learning to love one another.
There are five things that we believe every child needs to know.
1) We serve a God we can trust in good times and bad times.
2) God gives us a community who believes the same truths as they do.
3) Our teachers will be reinforcing what their parents are teaching them.
4) The Word of God gives us the answers to tempting times and the Holy Spirit gives us the ability to make the right choice in tough situations.
5) Their parents will be equipped to guide and train them up in conjunction with what they are learning at church.
Together we can make a difference. We want you to know that you can trust us with the task to team up with you in order to train up your children in the way that they should go, and to provide opportunities to grow in their faith.
Rock Solid Kids Ministries at a Glance...
Sunday School:We offer nursery/toddler care and Sunday School classes ranging from newborns to 6th grade during our services on Sunday. Our first service Sunday School curriculum is “Faithweaver” by Group Publishing. FaithWeaver is designed to go through the entire Bible in three years. To help students understand the Old Testament as a whole, learners explore it chronologically during the summer and fall quarters. Then winter and spring quarter lessons focus on the New Testament. During second service we offer a different curriculum entitled “Generations of Grace”. Generations of Grace is a biblically based and God-centered curriculum designed for children three years old through the sixth grade. Over a three-year period, this curriculum covers the Old Testament historical books, the life of Christ, and lessons from Acts and Revelation. Its design is to encourage a high degree of interaction between student and teacher. For students in the elementary grades, the Bible lessons are written in a question-and-answer format. This ensures that students participate in and understand each lesson. It is designed to magnify God by studying His character in the pages of Scripture. We can better understand who He is and how we are to respond to Him by studying how His redemptive plan has unfolded and how He has used men to accomplish His purposes.
CHECK THESE OUT!Information Table - There is an information table that has helpful ideas on raising your children to love and honor God. In addition we have children's books available, upcoming or current events, and fun "stuff" for the kids.
OTHER GREAT ACTIVITIESVBS - Every summer we gather for a week of fun. We’ve covered the 7 C’s with Answers in Genesis, traveled through early Bible times on Paul’s missionary journeys, built a model tabernacle to learn more about the Israelites journey in the wilderness, and even built a castle in our theme on the Kingdom of God. Join us this summer as we continue to discover God’s incredible truths through fun and exciting ways. A grade school student will enjoy bible lessons, crafts, game time, bible verse memorization, and snack time. Please join us this year.Solid Rock Homeschool Co-op - We have a large number of families in our congregation that homeschool their children. In 2002 a group of parents gathered together to form a co-op that would provide enrichment and academic classes for their children. It has offered classes such as: Spanish, book clubs, Bible survey, history, science, and many more. Check out our website for more information at: www.solidrockch.orgClassical Conversations - Classical Conversations Community is a homeschool program that exists to complement your home-centered education and connect you with like-minded families. Each community is facilitated by a trained parent-director, and classes are led by trained parent-tutors who model the classical tools of learning. Tutors have the privilege of encouraging students toward becoming lifelong learners while also encouraging parents in the classical teaching of their children. For more information see the children’s table or contact the office.Solid Rock Children's Musical Theatre – Starting each January we began planning and practicing for our Spring musical. Students ages K - 9th grade are invited to participate. They meet weekly and often sing in service sometime during that stretch. Watch for details early in January. For more information, check the children’s table, email or call the church (360) 674-7000.Summer Camp - One of the 5 keys of ministry we seek to develop with our kids is the aspect of fellowship. There is nothing that builds community like spending a few days together as a group away from home. Starting in 2003 we began running summer camp for kids entering 3rd grade through leaving 6th grade. We have a busy schedule that runs from 7am to 9:30pm. It is filled with large group games, archery, sports, swimming, small group time, worship and Bible time each day.
